Product Description

The Exabyte EXB-8900 (Mammoth) is a high-speed, high capacity, 8mm digital helical-scan tape subsystem, which is packaged in the industry standard 5.25-inch half-high form factor. The tape drive transfers data at a rate of up to 6 megabytes per second with 2:1 compression, and can store up to 40 gigabytes of compressed data on a single data cartridge. The Mammoth drive writes and reads in mammoth format using either the EXATAPE 22m or 170m advanced metal evaporated (AME) media. It reads 8500, 8500C and 8200 formats written on metal particle (mp) tape. The EXB-8900 is designed for fast and wide single-ended or differential SCSI, and supports SCSI-2 and fast synchronous mode.
